about

March 2011 is announced as the official International Gold Medal Famous Month. There are gigs, album releases and surprise events. The Queen is said to be particularly excited. A source close to the queen allegedly quotes her as saying "I've followed them since their no-wave faze in 2008".

Gold Medal Famous apparently turned down an invite to play as the wedding band at Kate and Wills. Citing the front man, Chris Wilson: "The band WOULD NOT COMPROMISE their wish to present the gift of a T-Shirt that says Soldier from a long-term welfare family to marry unemployed woman".

There are several events planned to celebrate IGMFM. "100 Years of Rock album release tour": Friday 18th in Hamilton @ Ward Lane, Saturday 19th in Auckland @ The Dogs Bollix and Saturday 26th in Wellington @ Watusi. There is a 2 man set at Happy in Wellington on Wednesday 2nd (free entry). Plus, surprise events are expected throughout the month.

"100 Years of Rock", the ridiculously easy second album, has been condemned by Brian Tamaki of Destiny Church and also the charismatic preacher Buster Wilson, but the NZ government believes the release could lift the country out of recession and reduce government debt to zero within 100 days of its release. The Rugby World Cup preparations have been halted to allow the full economic effect to take hold.

Attend the gigs for maximum aural pleasure.
